Anja Walker

Bsc, BVSc MRCVS

Anja has worked in Equine practice since graduating from Liverpool University in 1999, both in hospital and ambulatory practice. She enjoys working with all types of horse from Shetlands to competition horses.
Anja’s personal interest is in carriage driving and she was fortunate to be a team vet for the British Carriage Driving team for some years. Anja competes in driving trials with her Dutch Warmblood as often as she can.

Andrew Walker

Andrew graduated from Edinburgh University in 1980. He went on to practice in Lancashire, Scotland and then Somerset. Andrew has vast experience across all aspects of equine veterinary work, including racing, competition horses and lameness. When he gets the chance, Andrew enjoys riding his Dutch Warmblood and partaking in the occasional glass of red wine …

ROB

Robert Dockley

BVSc & MRCVS

Rob first started working for the practice in 2022 by helping on the out of hours rota, making the leap to working for Andrew and Anja full time in 2024. Since Rob qualified, he has worked predominantly in equine practice, although he did thoroughly enjoy a brief spell in James Herriot-style mixed practice!

Outside of work Rob enjoys playing hockey and spending time with his daughter dogs, and acquired new horse ‘Archie’.

Dr Claire Hopkins

Claire graduated from the University of Bristol with a physiology degree, and then studied veterinary medicine at the University of Edinburgh, qualifying in 2016.

Claire has worked in both equine hospitals and ambulatory equine practice since qualifying. She undertook an internship at Rainbow Equine Hospital in Yorkshire and has particular interests in anaesthesia, critical care medicine and geriatric care.

After having worked all over the UK and even South Africa, Claire is thrilled to be back ‘home’ in the West Country, with her trusty veterinary assistants Sava and Chennie the labradors in tow!

Dr Megan E Bouttle

BVSc MRCVS

Megan qualified from the University of Bristol in 2023 before heading to the USA to complete a rotating internship at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Virginia. She stayed on for an additional year as a Sports Medicine Fellow, where she enjoyed working with a wide range of equine patients — from foals and pleasure horses to sports horses. Megan has a particular interest in poor performance cases and loves the challenge of diagnosing and managing lameness.

Now back in the UK, she’s enjoying being part of the team and caring for horses of all types in the countryside. When she’s not at work, Megan is at home with her three horses, Elmo, Pi and Quizz, her dogs Woody and Ivy, and her pet sheep.

Heather_Greenslade_Walker_Equine_Vets

Heather Greenslade

Practice Manager & Nurse (RVN & REVN)

Heather qualified as a Vet Nurse in 1976 & Equine Veterinary Nurse in 2007, she has considerable experience of lecturing in the subject of veterinary nursing.

Heather adds huge value to the team in her role as Practice Manager, both with her business acumen and also her equine nursing knowledge.

Heather’s hobbies include National Hunt racing & walking in the countryside. She has ridden and produced Point to Point winners, helped to produce international Pony Club horses & ponies for children to ride, and is a member of the National Pony Club Tetrathlon Committee.

Lucy_Walker_Equine_Vets

Lucy Forrest

Office Team & Nurse (REVN)

Lucy qualified as an Equine Veterinary Nurse in 2009, she has experience in all aspects of equine veterinary nursing, including surgery and hospital care.

Lucy has experience of small animal practice as well as human medicine. Lucy helps run the office, as well as carrying out nursing duties.

Outside of work, Lucy has two small children to keep her busy, and occasionally enjoys riding her pony ‘Custard’.

Emily Wollacott

Office & SVN Student Veterinary Nurse

Emily achieved her Level 2 Animal Nursing Assistant Certificate at Bicton College, before working at a local riding school for 9 years. Emily joined the team to help in all areas of the practice including
reception and some nursing. Emily has recently acquired her BVRA Accredited Veterinary Receptionist and Level 3 Equine First Aid.

Emily spends her spare time point to point racing and looking after her new horse, Ex Racehorse Checkers.

Becky

Becky James

Accounts and Insurance Administrator (SQP)

Currently on maternity leave

Becky achieved her SQP AMTRA qualification in 2017 whilst working for a small animal practice. She joined our team in September 2023 and is now studying to become an equine SQP.

Outside of work Becky is kept busy with her young daughter who loves riding her Dartmoor pony Cinders. Becky also enjoys competing her ex-racehorse Beau as well as bringing on her Dutch Warmblood Edgar.
